Metronome, 2024
250 x 125 x 125 cm / oak blockboard, birch plywood, steel, copper, aluminum
The idea for the implementation of a large metronome appeared at the end of 2023. I had an exhibition planned for September 2024 at the Bunkier Sztuki in Kraków. I thought that such a monumental metronome could become a unifying element of the entire exhibition. Its form and trapezoidal shape refer to ancient motifs (temple facades, Egyptian obelisks), while the sound symbolizes a certain time uniformity - something universal, from which there is no escape.
The metronome mechanism is fully analog, devoid of any electrical support. The driving force of the mechanism is an approx. 20-kilogram steel weight. The author of the mechanism design and co-executor is the visual artist Olgierd Chmielewski.
